a quick introduction

Darron Story has been speaking to audiences large and small in one form or another for more than 30 years. As he’s made the journey in and out of the entertainment business, Darron has become an expert at starting over, even appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show to talk about it.

Adjusting to life after fame is how Darron honed his love of reinvention, came to embrace failure as an acceptable option and developed highly effective sales and fundraising skills that have enabled him to support his own projects and the nonprofit organizations he’s worked for, topics which form the foundation for the messages he conveys to his audiences today.

We all have a story on how we got here…I help people discover the strength in theirs, showing them how they can create their own opportunity—no matter where they are in their life! I embolden people to learn how to re-invent themselves and lead with love, empathy and compassion. In the meantime, I try to have a little fun!
“Darron is an affable, unassuming orator who is a master at disarming an audience with his quick wit and self-effacing humor.”

Darron Story has been speaking to audiences large and small in one form or another for more than 30 years. As a member of Grand Jury, he entertained patrons during the group’s stint as the house band of First Avenue, the unofficial club of Prince. From there he experienced success as part of Lo-Key?,  that signed with A&M Records under the umbrella of FlyteTyme Productions and Grammy Award winning Producers Jimmy “Jam” Harris and Terry Lewis. The group recorded 2 CDs and performed on shows such as BET’s Video Soul and Video LP, Soul Train, NBC’s Friday Night Videos and The Arsenio Hall Show. Their single “I Got A Thang 4 Ya” climbed to #1 on the Billboard R&B Charts, and they were nominated for “Best New R&B Group” Billboard Music Award. They toured extensively all over the United States and Europe. Darron also received a platinum record for writing on the motion picture soundtrack Mo’ Money starring Damon Wayans.

After a return to “regular life,” Darron took to the airwaves as a radio personality, co-creating, hosting and producing sports-focused programs. From there, he went on to create and produce a weekly late-night talk show featuring local celebrities and musical guests. His attention soon moved to new online channels, changing the show to a web-based, one-on-one interview show and adding a podcast that featured interviews with some of the great artists, producers and record executives from R&B/Soul Music from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. The podcast has been listened to by enthusiasts in 50 countries around the world. He’s now returned to radio as the host of two shows on Magic 107.3, an urban adult contemporary radio station serving the Kansas City metropolitan area.
